MSoH: Alpha

So I totally just took my OC Marianna and adapted her into a superhero for 's club on tumbler.

Done on livestream, with SAI in a couple of hours. I'll get a more detailed character sheet out soon.

WARNING: lots of writing ahead. Proceed with caution.

Marianna herself even considers her past to be a sob story (and therefore seldom talks about it). She is part of a race of ancient beings fabled to be the mother of all canine species—though this is probably false. Because she has lived for so long, she doesn’t know her exact birthdate (sometime in spring) and she remembers little about her childhood. What she does know, is that her race was attacked and destroyed when she was a young girl, and she was left to fend for herself…which she didn’t do very well seeing as she had not yet been taught any survival skills, or how to harness most of her powers. She is found, and taken in by a man, who keeps her as part of his personal ‘collection’ for an untold number of years before she is able to escape with the help of one of his maids. At this point, she is more mature, less gullible, and has some serious mental trauma and trust issues. She knows how to blend in and stay out of sight as to not attract any attention but over the years she is still used and abused on occasion. In the midst of one of these aforementioned occasions, she is rescued by 2 men, Daedalus and Anton, whom she eventually befriends and begins to trust. They teach her how to defend herself and access her powers, and then recruit her to join them in their very prolific career: thievery. My God this backstory is too, anyway she slowly falls in love with Daedalus, and they have a somewhat healthy relationship (she’s a bit too dependent on him, not that he minds). During a heist, Anton gets killed, and years later, Daedalus is killed in an ambush. Mari doesn’t remember much from the period immediately after that, all she knows (mentally unstable as she was—especially back then) is that a lot of people died. After regaining control, she further honed and suppressed her powers so she wouldn’t lose it and go mental again.

Fast forward 200years to the present day:

Recently she has learned to fit in with modern society and lives in a nice, little, old, one story house, secluded at the edge of town. She works part-time as an instructor at a local dance studio to pay the bills. Due to boredom, and some unconscious need to help people, she decided to start fighting crime under the alias “Alpha”.

Personality: Polite, yet blunt at times. Mari is EXTREMELY maternal and shows her love for children (and some adults that still act like children) openly and with much vigor. Because of this, she is sometimes unintentionally patronizing to her peers (who are younger than her). She is usually pretty modest about her appearance and rarely wears much of any makeup. She prefers her clothes to be comfortable and somewhat stylish, but classy as opposed to sexy. Because of past wrong-doings, Mari is cautious and very slow to trust people. Because she has lived so long on her own she has some issues with the chain-of-command and following directions (but she’s working on that).

Powers: Mari possesses the ability to transform into a wolf-like creature, though she usually just sticks to a canine-human hybrid form. Because of her connection to the canine species, she has above average strength, agility, speed, and sense of sight, smell, and hearing. Marianna is also very slow-aging, and while she is easily over 3,000 years old, she appears only to be in her mid 20s.

Likes: Animals, nature, dance/choreography, red meat (raw or cooked rare), exercise, cuddling, and alcohol.

Dislikes: Fancy-Froofy food, non-organic food (makes her sick), spicy food, being lied to, cooking, obnoxiously high heels, the objectification of men or women.

Misc:
She specializes mostly in hand-to-hand combat.

Because of her heightened senses, she doesn’t fare well in areas with heavy smoke or air pollution, and her eyes are really sensitive to bright lights.

She has a very fast metabolism and needs to eat frequently. When she doesn’t, she gets weak, sleepy, and very irritable.

She has a huge weakness for children.

She hasn’t completely let go of her past as a thief, and sees any form of security, booby traps, password-encrypted things, etc., as a hard-to-pass-up challenge.

She still hasn’t gotten over Daedalus’ death completely, seeing as she has remained celibate for over 200years—though her resolve to not have sex is starting to slip a little recently.

She rarely talks about her life story—woe-is-me complaining isn’t really her style, she doesn’t need sympathy. If someone really wants to know about it, she’ll tell them, but she doesn’t go around advertising.

She suffers from insomnia and will sometimes go days without sleeping. When she does sleep, she is often plagued by nightmares of her past, and therefore (when she does try to sleep) often seeks comfort in cuddling with one of her friends (particularly her male friends).

She knows over 15 different languages, though most of them are in older dialects that are rarely, if ever, used in modern times.

Although she has nothing against them, cats seem to despise her.
